Sixty Days of Listening
At sixty days, Tracks & Tales has become a living network of listeners — 2,000 people, 20 members of The Membership List.
By Rafi Mercer
Two months. Sixty days. A little over eight weeks of quiet work, slow rhythm, and deliberate care — and something has started to move.
When Tracks & Tales began, it was little more than an instinct: that there were still people who wanted to listen differently. To sit, not scroll. To hear, not hurry. To rebuild attention as a form of pleasure.
Now, sixty days later, that instinct has become a signal.
More than 2,000 listeners have arrived from 71 countries and 552 cities.
They have read across 1,000 pages, traced stories through bars and cities and albums, and in the process built the beginnings of a new map — one that charts where the world still listens.
Without even a single $, £, Google has gifted us 65,000 impressions and nearly 1,000 clicks.
We’ve been mentioned by bar owners, shared among designers, noticed by audiophiles.
And The Membership — the quiet heart of this project — now counts twenty names.
Twenty people who didn’t need persuading, who simply understood.
This is not an audience; it’s the start of a society.
A gathering of those who believe that listening is culture, and that culture can be rebuilt one sound at a time.
We don’t yet know exactly what membership in the Tracks & Tales Guide will come to mean.
Perhaps it will shape itself around gatherings, perhaps a publication, perhaps an act of curation.
What matters is the promise: that belonging will be earned, not bought — and that those who listen with care will help decide what comes next.
Because this project was never about traffic; it was about tone.
It’s about re-teaching the world to pay attention.
So what happens now?
The next sixty days will bring more essays, more hubs, more sound.
More of you will find us and, hopefully, each other.
Something will emerge from the silence — a way to share, to recognise, to gather.
It might take the form of editions, or of moments, or of something entirely new.
We’ll find it together.
If the first two months built the foundation, the next will build the resonance.
Thank you for being here at the start — for reading, for listening, for helping the signal grow.
The world is tuning in. And we’re only just beginning to hear it.
Current Signals (Day 60)
- 1,000 pages live
- 2,039 listeners
- 8,000 page views
- 71 countries / 552 cities
- 60,000 impressions / 979 clicks
- 20 members on The Membership List
Projected Signals (Day 120)
If this energy continues — if more of us keep listening, sharing, and shaping the quiet together — here’s where the current might carry us next:
- 1,500–2,000 pages of mapped culture
- 5,000+ listeners from 100 countries
- 20,000–25,000 monthly page views
- 150,000 organic impressions
- 4,000–5,000 clicks from pure discovery
- 100 members of The Membership List — a growing society of people who believe in the art of listening
And somewhere between those numbers, a new kind of media begins to form — one that doesn’t speak louder, but resonates further.
See you
