That’s why we created the Tracks & Tales Stars — a new kind of rating system for a new kind of night out. One that doesn’t care how many followers a venue has, but how deeply it respects the act of listening.

Every star we give out comes down to five questions. Five truths we’ve learned from a lifetime inside the world’s best-sounding rooms.

Sound System Quality
Does the system make you lean in? Is it chosen with love, tuned with care, and looked after like a vintage car? Whether it’s a custom-built stack, an audiophile’s dream, or a vintage gem — we want sound that fits the room.

Sonic Intent
Here’s the thing: music can’t just be background. Every playlist, every selector, every live act — it all has to be about giving the audience something to feel.

Acoustic Environment
Even the best system fails in the wrong room. We look at every detail — from the way the walls catch the highs to how the bass breathes in the space.

Curation & Vibe
We want programming that surprises you, teaches you, pulls you somewhere unexpected. And we want rooms full of people who came to listen.

Every venue is visited in person — no exceptions. Either by us or a trusted local scout. There’s no pay-to-play, no sponsored stars. And every year, we re-check. Some venues rise. Some fade. That’s the point.
