Tracks & Tales Listening City Chart - October 2026

The cities readers chose to spend time with this month — every listening bar guide on Tracks & Tales, ranked by organic readership and grouped by country. 124 cities. 43 countries. One measure: where people went to read about sound.

Kyoto holds first with two hundred and fifty-eight views, well above last month's record. Lisbon climbs to second on a hundred and ninety-three and Barcelona to third on a hundred and eighty-seven. New York City reads more than it did in September but falls to fourth. The top three has no American city.

Across the whole map, readers are moving outward. The United States still leads by country, with six hundred and twenty-eight views over fifty-eight cities, but that is two hundred fewer than last month. Everywhere else together rose from about two thousand two hundred and fifty to two thousand six hundred and seventeen. Japan passes five hundred. Spain nearly doubles to three hundred and twenty-one. Prague triples to a hundred and eleven, and seventy of those views came through the Portuguese edition of the guide. Athens goes from twenty-four to eighty.

More than a third of this month's readers, one thousand two hundred and five of three thousand two hundred and forty-five, reached a city through a translated edition, and the Chinese edition carried the most. India joins the atlas through Jaipur. The United Kingdom halves to forty-eight, although Hebden Bridge draws level with Leeds on eleven. A hundred and twenty-four cities, forty-three countries.
